Wrestling is one of several sports offered by JHS during the Winter Sports Season. JHS typically fields a varsity and JV squad.
Girls Wrestling Tryout Information
Head Coach: Blake Byrne blakebyrne@joplinschools.org
First Day of Practice: Monday, November 3, 2025
Time: 4:00- 6:00pm
Location: JHS Wrestling Room
Dress: Shorts and T-shirt (Headgear if you have your own)
Other Important Information:
Wrestling Shoes are required. Bags, phones, and other personal items need to be in the locker room. Nothing but a water bottle may be brought to the wrestling room (other than wrestling items)
Parent Meeting Date, Time, and Location:
November 11th & 13th 6:00pm JHS Cafeteria
(Only need to select one meeting time)

Tryouts & Practice
The season begins with tryouts in late October/early November with practice continuing on a daily basis through late February. Practices are held in the wrestling room at JHS.
Home Matches
The JHS Wrestling team's home matches are in the Kaminsky Gymnasium on the campus of Joplin High School.
Central Ozark Conference
The Joplin Eagles compete in the Central Ozark Conference consisting of ten teams from around southwest Missouri. The varsity squad competes against nearby schools and attends tournaments in the Kansas City area, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas.
District Play
Joplin wrestles in Class 4 which is the largest class offered for wrestling. The district is comprised of 15 schools from the Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia areas.
